Little Seed Program
Little Seed is a program that exists to empower vulnerable widows and their children by breaking the grips of poverty.
Little Seed began with 20 widows.
How does the program work?
Our program uses the ‘pay it forward’ model. It starts with a selection process coordinated by our Tanzanian program manager and the community elders to determine the most vulnerable widows.
At first harvest, each woman ‘pays forward’ their original seed to another widow. Upon new women entering the group, we encourage the widows to embrace their new family by meeting weekly to share and pray together.
Today, our program helps 110 women. This strategy initiates a cycle of self-sufficiency that gives the widows resources and knowledge to purchase the seed and farm. Extra vegetables are readily sold to bring household income. The widows are then able to cover school fees and supplies, garden equipment and healthcare, furthering their ability to overcome poverty.
Every donation made to this program will allow a gift of seed to be given to a new widow. When you help one woman, you in turn help many.
