Little Seed Program

Little Seed exists to empower vulnerable widows and their children, breaking the cycle of poverty through hope and opportunity. What began with just 20 women has grown into something extraordinary.

More than a farming program, it’s a lifeline and a community. From small beginnings, it has blossomed into a legacy of hope, transforming lives for generations to come.

How does the program work?

Our program follows the ‘pay it forward’ principle, a simple yet deeply impactful way to transform lives across generations. It starts with our Tanzanian program manager and community elders carefully selecting the most vulnerable widows—women who are often the backbone of their families yet face overwhelming challenges.

Each widow receives seeds to plant, and after her first harvest, she ‘pays forward’ those seeds to another widow in need. This act of giving doesn’t stop at the seeds—it’s about creating a new family of support. The women meet weekly to share their journeys, encourage one another, and pray together, building strength in community.

Today, 110 women are part of this growing movement. Through the program, they gain the tools and knowledge to grow abundant crops, sell surplus vegetables, and earn an income. This income allows them to provide for their children—covering school fees, purchasing supplies, and accessing healthcare. These resources create a ripple effect, breaking the cycle of poverty and opening doors for the next generation.
